The research for National Certification in Plastics revealed a “body of knowledge” that plastics processing personnel should have. Working with the Polymers Center for Excellence, SPI has developed a detailed NCP Study Guide based on this body of knowledge. The Study Guide is 170 pages with chapters covering:

  1. Basic Process Control

  2. Preventive and Corrective Action in Primary and Secondary Equipment

  3. Handling, Storage, Packaging, and Delivery of Plastic Materials

  4. Quality Assurance

  5. Safety

  6. Tools and Equipment

  7. General Knowledge

Each section is color-coded (blue for blow molding, green for extrusion, red for injection molding and yellow for thermoforming). This allows the reader to quickly focus on the information for the appropriate process.

It provides an excellent overview for anyone in plastics processing and is especially useful resource for those employees taking the NCP exam. The NCP Study Guide is available through SPI’s Literature Sales department at 1-800-541-0736, or through SPI’s Web site catalog.
